Jonny Campbell and Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng were left a bit rattled as they could not find a response in their loss to Vietnam's Than Quang Ninh on Wednesday night in the AFC Cup.

Svay Rieng 1-4 Than Quang Ninh

Than Quang Ninh attacked and did not let up as they earned their first three points in Group G in their win over Svay Rieng at the National Olympic Stadium on Phnom Penh.

Jonny Campbell started for Svay Rieng and went the distance as it now is a three-way battle for second place in the group.

Quang Ninh entered the game with only a point to their name while Svay Rieng was looking to keep the momentum going following their 2-1 win over Bali United in two weeks ago.

However, the visitors set out on the attack from the get-go and rewarded with the opening goal in the 36th minute when Hai Huy fired his shot into the lower right-hand side of the net.

The host did not look deterred despite being a goal down as they also were in attack mode. That led to them leveling the score before halftime when Privat brought down a long ball from teammate Soeuy Visal and darted into the area to slot the ball home to cheers of the supporters.

Both teams continued to press for goals in the second half, but Quang Ninh would win out in the battle.

The visitors retook the lead in the 57th minute when Neven Lastro met a cross from Giang Tran Quach Tan on the left side to head past Svay Rieng's goalkeeper Om Oudom.

Jeremie Lynch extended their lead in the 77th minute when a long ball from the back fell to Giang and his lofted pass went to the Jamaican international, who was to score despite being surrounded by three Svay Rieng players.

Quang Ninh rounded out the scoring in the 86th minute when Dao Nhat Minh was played through by Nghiem Xuan Tu and he comfortably got his shot through to seal the win.

A tough loss for Svay Rieng, but they are not of the tournament yet. The next weeks will see the return legs of the group games in which they will have a chance to earn more points.

At present Svay Rieng sits in third place in Group G with three points.
