Tyler Boyd scored possibly the goal of the weekend in Turkey as Besiktas rolled to a win over Trabzonspor while Eric Lichaj came off the bench to help Fatih Karagumruk to their first win.

Trabzonspor 1-3 Besiktas

Besiktas played outstanding in their opening game of the season as they proved to be too much for Trabzonspor to handle in their win at Medical Park Stadyumu.

Boyd had a strong outing for the Black Eagles, playing 81 minutes on the left side of the midfield.

After a third place finish last season, which guaranteed them a spot in the Champions League qualifiers, the Istanbul-based team wanted to make a statement in this game as they want to put pressure on current champions Istanbul Basaksehir.

And the visitors made quite the impression 29 minutes into the contest when Atiba Hutchinson sent the ball out wide to Boyd. The American international then cut towards the edge of the area to launch a powerful shot that deflected off the head of a Trabzonspor defender and into the goal.

That was the only goal in the half as both teams headed to their respective dressing rooms, but Besiktas had more in store for the second interval.

Looking dominant throughout the game, Besiktas doubled their lead in the 64th minuted when Bernard Mensah scored from the penalty spot after Hutchinson was brought down in the area by Trabzonspor's Brazilian midfielder Flavio. That did the host no good as he was sent off for the foul.

Jermain Lens scored Besiktas' third goal in the 74th minute as he tucked away a low cross from Dorukhan Tokoz.

A great win for the team and they will hoping they can produce more of the same during the season.

Eric Lichaj made his debut for Fatih Karagumruk, playing 25 minutes, as the newly-promoted team earned the three points with a 3-0 win over Yeni Malatyaspor.
