Tim Ream and Fulham were hammered in their Premier League return as they proved to be no match for Arsenal as the new season got underway.
Fulham 0-3 Arsenal
Fulham received a rude welcome back to the Premier League as Arsenal was in dominant in the London derby, coming away with the win at Craven Cottage.
Tim Ream started the game and went the distance in a rough outing.
Alexandre Lacazette opened the scoring just eight minutes into the contest when Ream failed to clear the ball from the area, allowing new Arsenal signee Willian to pounce. His shot was saved by Marek Rodak, but he would only push the ball into the path of the Frenchman who slammed it home.
Arsenal doubled their lead just four minutes into the second interval through another debutante. Willian's corner kick found Gabriel in the crowded six-yard box and the Brazilian center-back headed into the goal.
Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng sealed the game for the Gunners in the 57th minute when received a perfect pass from Willian that ended up with the Gabon striker curling his shot past Rodak.
A tough loss for Fulham, but they'll have little time to dwell on it as the EFL Cup begins for them in a couple of days.
In other Premier League action, Christian Pulisic suffered a setback in his recovery from a hamstring injury, thus, he was out of the team as Chelsea earned their first win of the season by beating Brighton 3-1.
In the Championship, Geoff Cameron and Queens Park Rangers got their campaign off on the right start with a 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
Giles Phillips watched from the bench for Wycombe Wanderers as they fell to Matthew Olosunde-less Rotherham United in a 1-0 defeat.
In League One, Lynden Gooch came off the bench for Sunderland as they shared the points with Bristol Rovers following a 1-1 tie.
Marlon Fossey played the final 20 minutes for Shrewsbury Town while Duncan Turnball was on standby for Portsmouth as their game ended in a 0-0 tie.
Down in League Two, Charlie Kelman and Southend United continued their slump after last relegation with a 4-0 hammering at the hands of Harrogate Town.
