Weston McKennie and Juventus proved to be too much for Napoli that their opponents did not even show up for the game, leaving the defending champions with the win due to forfeiture.
Juventus 3-0 Napoli (game abandoned)
Juventus won their highly anticipated game over Napoli without even kicking a ball as the Naples-based team did not show up to the Allianz Stadium for their game on Sunday.
Weston McKennie was not in the starting eleven for this game in what will be a highly controversial result in light of the circumstances surrounding Napoli's no show for the game.
According to reports, Napoli was not given permission to leave for Turin after two members tested positive for COVID-19. Health authorities in the Campania region were concerned that an outbreak could occur if the team traveled to another city. They then requested that the game be postponed, but both Juventus and Serie A authorities refused their plea.
The Bianconeri would send their team out to the field and even announce their starting line-up. The game was eventually called off after 45 minutes, with Juventus being awarded the win.
With Napoli's team under strict quarantine, this probably will not be the last to be heard about this game as the Gli Azzurri will most likely take legal action to see the decision reversed.
Down in Serie B, Andrija Novakovich came off the bench to score a goal for Frosinone in their 2-0 win over Venezia.
