SOTO SECURES NORWICH WORK PERMIT
RECAPS
EXTRA TIME
DAVID SMITH - Sunday, January 31, 2021
Sebastian Soto can now finally show off his talents in the English Championship as it was reported on Friday that the forward successfully obtained his work permit to play for Norwich City.

The Canaries confirmed the news on their team website which means the 20-year-old can now train and play for the team as they make a final push for promotion back to the Premier League.

After coming through the youth system at Hannover in Germany, Soto would sign with Norwich in the summer of last year as a free agent. With the difficulty of obtaining a work permit, he was sent on loan to the Dutch Eerste Divisie with SC Telstar. The first half of the season with the second division team proved to be successful as he scored seven goals in 12 games.

Now, with the work permit secured, Norwich has recalled the California native and he will join up with the Under-23 team.

Daniel Farke, head coach of the promotion chasers, expressed his excitement at finally getting to see what Soto can do.

"He had a really good loan, scored lots of goals and has been involved in the USA national team squad. We got that feeling that it was a good time to bring him back to England and have a closer look at him," said Farke in an interview.

"He will have some training sessions with the first team to have a look at him. It makes more sense to let him play for the U23s, loan him out or if he can impress that much, then he will get that opportunity. The door is always open."

Despite the excitement of having Soto with the team, Farke does not want to put too many expectations on the player.

"I don't want to put too much pressure on him. He's a U23 player for us but he has chances to impress and we see how it develops in the days and weeks," he said.
