The long awaited first call-up of New York striker Josmer Altidore was the highlight of a strong 17-man roster named by US head coach Bob Bradley for the American's November 17 match in Johannesburg against South Africa.

Altidore, the most notable of the call-ups, will be the only true forward to travel to face Bafana Bafana, although Landon Donovan and Clint Dempsey were listed as forwards on the roster.

Michael Bradley and Benny Feilhaber get another camp for their resume, while Freddy Adu and Maurice Edu will also fly to South Africa's largest city looking for their third and second caps respectively.

On defense, Jay DeMerit's calf injury has seemingly opened up the door for an extra look at Danny Califf who was named to camp, but Heath Pearce will miss out in favor of CD Chivas back Jonathan Bornstein.

Veterans Carlos Bocanegra, Steve Cherundolo and Oguchi Onyewu were also called up.

Tim Howard will again be in goal, with Brad Guzan set to deputize.
