FC Lorient attacker Andrew Jacobson is on his way to recovery from foot surgery and will be ready for preseason training.

After signing with the French club during the January transfer window, Jacobson was looking to make his mark in European soccer but things didn't go quite the way he had planned.

"I was playing very well and made the top 18 after four weeks," the University of California alumni told YA. "But then got injured the next week."

"I broke my foot, the fifth metatarsal."

The injury resulted in surgery for the DC United 2008 first round draft pick, which ended his season.

"The team was very supportive though," Jacobson claims. "They told me just to be patient and get back to 100 percent so I can be ready for next season."

"It seems like I am in the coach's plans for the season so I just need to go prove it."

Lorient, who finished 10th in the league, kick off the new campaign on August 9th when they visit Lille.
