Mikkel Diskerud will play for the US
Following the international switch of Jermaine Jones from Germany, another dual-citizen is set to join the United States' fold on a likely permanent basis.

Though not on the initial roster, Stabaek attacker Mikkel Diskerud has been released by his club and will join his fellow Americans in time for a friendly on Saturday against Egypt.

Thomas Rongen has noticed the youngster's strong play this season in Norway, and with cooperation of the Bærum-based club, the 18-year old will join the Red, White and Blue with the condition that he returns to Norway the next day, ready to face league foe Brann.

Diskerud, who has three goals this season for the defending Norwegian champions, has appeared for both the US and Norway at the Under-20 level, but with Norway not qualified for the Under-20 World Cup, could be in the shop window in a US shirt in September.

Should Diskerud join the US on a permanent basis, it will mark the second time in recent weeks that a dual-citizen has pledged his international future to the Stars and Stripes, after the high-profile defections of Giuseppe Rossi, Neven Subotic and Edgar Castillo.

Diskerud and Stabaek face perennial Eliteserien powerhouses Rosenborg on Wednesday.

Our club is called "Stabæk", not Stabaek. I know you do know how to use the "æ" since you managed it in Bærum. And "Mix" (that's his preferred nickname, also on the back of his shirt in Stabæk) is actually a central midfielder and not a stricker or a winger (although he has been used in those last two as well in Stabæk).

And unfortunately we lost the match against Rosenborg 1-0.. :(
