PREVIEW: MIDWEEK MEXICAN ACTION
RECAPS
EXTRA TIME
Wednesday, November 4, 2009
All three Yanks and their clubs will likely need to win out if they are to have a shot at the playoffs, with San Luis and Michael Orozco having the best shot as they sit in second place of Group One.

Estudiantes - San Luis

Michael Orozco and San Luis travel to Gudalajara to take on Sammy Ochoa and Estudiantes on Wednesday in Tres de Marzo stadium.

San Luis, who are coming off a 0 - 3 drubbing at the hands of Monterrey this past weekend, will be looking to rebound and fortify their playoff hopes. They currently sit in second place of the underperforming Group One with 17 points.

Had they been placed in Group Two or Three, they would be sitting in sixth or fifth place respectively with long shot hopes of qualifying. As they sit now, anything less than a win will cause them stress.

Fortunatley for San Luis, the two teams on their heals will face each other this weekend. Chivas and Atlas both trail by a mere two points.

The picture for Estudiantes is very grim, but still not mathematically impossible. They currently sit nine points out of a qualifying spot with three games to go.

Look for Orozco to get the start at right defensive back, while Ochoa has only appeared three times as a late second half sub.

Estudiantes will be without Israel Villaseñor due to suspension while San Luis's Pablo Cesar Aguilar is out due to injury.

Pachuca - Cruz Azul

Jose Francisco Torres and Pachuca host Cruz Azul on Wednesday in Pachuca at Hidalgo stadium.

If Pachuca is worthy of a playoff spot, this is the game to prove it. Their visitors currently sit in second place of Group Three.

Pachuca have been playing well, but unfortunately for them were placed in the toughest of the three groups. They currently sit in fifth place, yet only five points out of first.

It is looking like they will need to win out their remaining three games if they hope to at least have a chance at qualifying.

With a win on Wednesday, they will also be doing a favor for Tigres: They trail Cruz Azul and a qualifying spot by six points.

Look for Torres to get the usual starting nod at left-center-mid.

Pachuca has listed as injured Paul Aguilar, Edgar Benítez and Damián Álvarez. Cruz Azul will be without Christian Riveros who is suspended.

Notes

Tigres will be without Edgar Castillo due to yellow card accumulation when they travel to Queretaro to take on the Gallos Blancos.

Marco Vidal is doubtful as Indios have yet to win going into their 15th game. They travel to Jalisco to take on Chivas.
