RICH FIDLER - Sunday, November 15, 2009
A second-half stoppage goal from the home team saw Helmond Sport go down in defeat on Friday evening.

Charles Kazlauskas went the distance for the visitors as neither team created many opportunities in the first half.

In the 67th minute, the hosts got on the board when Umut Gundogan split the central defenders with his speed. With goalkeeper Robert Van Westerop charging out to meet the attacker, he chipped the ball over the sliding 'keeper for the lead.

Helmond leveled the score in the 87th minute when Johan Voskamp scored a stunning over-head volley from a looping cross in to the penalty area. The striker's shot carromed off the post and appeared to give the visitors a much needed road point.

Unfortunately for the visitors, Roosendaal's second-half substitute John Schot would score the winner three minutes later in stoppage time after being played in to the penalty area by Tjaronn Chery. Schot would slam the ball past Van Westerop as a sliding Kazlauskas was a second too late.

Helmond will stay on the road next weekend and face FC Volendam.

I hate to be the harbinger of bad news, ladies and gentlemen, but Michael Orozco will start for the US men's national team in Jacksonville.
