CHRISTOPHER ANDERSON - Friday, January 15, 2010
The American duo of Eddie Johnson and Freddy Adu will have a chance to work their way into the starting eleven of Aris coach Hector Raul Cuper on Sunday afternoon as the Thessalonikans travel west to Ioannina.

Following Johnson's eleven minute debut on Wednesday in a Greek Cup win over Asteras Tripolis, Adu has been cleared to appear for the Thessaloniki side after a quick trip to Benfica this week to finalize his loan. Both forwards will have to work their way into an attack that features former Barcelona youth star Toni Calvo and Argentine Javier Campora.

The current strikeforce have lit up the scoreboard in recent Super League action, notching eight between them over the past three matches. In Wednesday's cup game the duo once again found the back of the net, with Calvo's bullet deserving Goal of the Week. Coach Cuper is said to be considering an Adu-Calvo pairing up top at some point during sunday's match.

Although in relegation-threatened 14th spot, the Ioanninans have salvaged four points in their two recent outings, the latest a 2-1 thumping of struggling Panthrakikos last Sunday. In addition, the 'Ajax of Epirus' have conceded three points only once in Zosimades Stadium this season, to Aris's latest league victim Iraklis.

Giannina skipper Georgios Paraschos has mainly relied on Christos Tzanis and Giorgos Kousas to find the back of the net this season with five and four goals respectively. Recent signee and former Marseille wingman Salim Arrache may provide more firepower if he gets the call this weekend.
