Saturday is lining up as the day DaMarcus Beasley returns to action for Rangers who host last place Falkirk at Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow.

Beasley has been out for nearly a month after straining a thigh muscle during a training session. The injury was initially believed to be a minor one, however it continued to linger and hampered the Indiana native's recovery.

Rangers head coach Walter Smith will gladly welcome back Beasley into the fold as his injury-depleted squad may once again be without striker Kenny Miller who reaggravated his hamstring in Wednesday's victory over St. Mirren.

The American winger helped wreak havoc on opposing team's defenses during the month of December when the Light Blues tallied 26 goals in six games, all of which were victories.

Beasley's compatriot Maurice Edu has missed the previous two matches due to a slight ankle injury and it is still uncertain as to whether or not Edu will be available to face the Bairns.

Despite the slew of injuries and absences from the squad, Rangers have actually increased their lead over second place Celtic to 10 games with the Hoops having now just one game in hand.

Striker Kris Boyd is out until February following a hernia operation while defender Madjid Bougherra is licking his wounds at the African Cup of Nations following Algeria's 4-0 loss to Egypt in that tournament's semifinal.

The visitors have struggled mightily all season long having accrued just 14 points through 20 matches.

Last year's Scottish Cup runners-up to Rangers will look to turn around their season with a much needed win to avoid the relegation zone, however it will have to be done without Tam Scobbie and possibly Brian McLean who is nursing an ankle injury.
