PREVIEW: WEEKEND ENGLISH ACTION
RECAPS
EXTRA TIME
ANDREW VORCE - Friday, February 12, 2010
Brad Guzan is expected to get the start when Aston Villa travels to Crystal Palace, while Kenny Cooper will be looking for his first start as Plymouth Argyle visit Barnsley.

Crystal Palace - Aston Villa

Veteran goalkeeper Brad Friedel should get a rest in the FA Cup replay at Crystal Palace, meaning his American understudy Brad Guzan will once again step up.

Villa could be without Stiliyan Petrov and Gabriel Agbonlahor who both went down injured during Aston Villa's 1-1 draw with Manchester United. Emile Heskey and Stephen Warnock are nearing full returns, while Nigel Reo-Coker is out until April.

Jonny Ertl is an injury doubt for Palace but Paddy McCarthy look to return by the end of the month after a shoulder surgery. Plenty of off the field problems loom over Selhurt Park as the club went into administration last week, with Palace also falling at home to Swansea in midweek action.

Barnsley - Plymouth

Kenny Cooper could see his first start for Plymouth as the struggling club travels to Barnsley.

Cooper was given the entire second half against Reading after coming on for Rory Fallon. Paul Mariner may opt to start the American striker, but will be without Karl Duguid who picked up an ankle injury last weekend.

Barnsley's Ryan Shotton will miss out after picking up a red at Watford. Bobby Hassell and Rob Kozluk are both injured, with Nathan Doyle expected to take his place. Jay Rodriguez was given the entire second half, and will be pushing for a weekend start against the Pilgrims.

Stockport County - Colchester

Jemal Johnson hopes to get back to work as the American has been out of commission for at least a week.

Johnson and fellow loanee Jabo Ibehre will both be back after their loan status forced them to watch from the sidelines as Stockport came to Edgeley Park in a smash and grab job that saw the Dons win 3-1.

Ashley Vincent will look for a full return in the coming weeks after being sidelined with a serious ankle injury, but Kevin Lisbie should be at full fitness ahead of the trip. Christian Ribeiro and Paul Reid are both expected to be at full fitness after struggling with groin injuries. Anthony Wordsworth was an early substitute against Southend and will be checked before the trip.

Brentford - Wycombe Wanderers

Jon-Paul Pittmann will hope to make his first start after shaking off a groin injury, having only managed a place on the bench in last weekends game against Yeovil.

Leon Johnson is nearing a return, having played 45 minutes in a reserve game after recovering from a hip injury. Matt Bloomfield, Lewwis Spence, Ian Westlake are all out with knee injuries.

Brentford cruised to a 4-0 victory at home over Gillingham, and will hope to duplicate the result. They have brought plenty of talent in during the winter, John Akinde and Lionel Ainsworth headlining the additions. Nikki Bull seems to be the only Bee out due to a shoulder injury.

Notes

Stuart Holden could make the bench for Bolton who take on Tottenham in the FA Cup.

Clint Dempsey will again miss out when Fulham welcome Notts County.

Zak Whitbread will travel with to Brighton as part of Norwich City gameday roster.

Seb Harris hopes to make the bench when Northampton welcome Aldershot.
