Helmond Sport traveled home to De Braak on Friday evening and easily disposed of RBC Roosendaal by three goals, including the opener by American Charles Kazlauskas.
Just eight minutes before the half-time whistle it was the American midfielder that broke the scoreless deadlock. He crashed in to the penalty area, smashing a right-footed volley past the stunned RBC 'keeper.
The visitors should have leveled the score in the 49th minute when defender Jeroen Veldmate was penalized for a clumsy challenge in the penalty area. Sjaak Polak stepped to the penalty area but the midfielder missed wide of the goal.
In the 73rd minute striker Johan Voskamp headed a Helmond corner in to the six-yard box, where right back Jeffrey Altheer played a clever ball with his back to goal for the two goal lead.
Four minutes later the home team would get their last goal when on-loan Liverpool midfielder Vincent Weijl picked the right corner of goal from outside the penalty area. Wijl had entered the game for starter Bruno Fernandes de Brito in the 26th minute.
Hemond will travel to face FC Oss - the former club of Kazlauskas - on Monday evening, a make-up game after last week's cancellation
