PREVIEW: WEEKEND GERMAN ACTION
RECAPS
EXTRA TIME
CLINT WADDELL - Thursday, March 4, 2010
Michael Bradley will be back with Gladbach as they face off against Dortmund while Daniel Williams and Steve Cherundolo will both be looking to get back in the mix as their two teams square off against each other.

SC Freiburg – Hannover 96

After missing a week of action due to the flu, Daniel Williams will most likely return to the starting line-up in defense and Steve Cherundolo will return to the bench as SC Freiburg host Hannover 96 on Saturday.

With points hard to come by at the bottom of the table, this could end up being an extremely valuable game for both teams as they get ready to head down the stretch.

Freiburg are currently just three points ahead of Hannover and although the team managed a point last week, they haven't won since November. A loss could potentially put them in the relegation zone.

For Hannover's head coach Mirko Slomka, 2010 couldn't have started out worse. The team has lost all of its matches so far this year and have plummeted to 17 points – now just two points ahead of last-placed Berlin.

Freiburg welcomes back Heiko Butscher, who was able to resume training again this week after injury, but it is unsure how much he will be able to play this week. The team will most likely be without defender Pavel Krmas.

American defender Steve Cherundolo is set to make his comeback from a shoulder injury that has kept him out of action for more than a month and Hannover will be happy about the return of Didier Ya Konan – one of the team's leading scorers.

However, they are still without midfielders Hanno Balitsch and Jacek Krzynowek, both suffering from knee problems, midfielder Valdet Rama, who has the flu and midfielder Jan Rosenthal who has a hip injury.

American Sal Zizzo and forward Mikael Forssel are still in rehab and will miss the match as well, along with Sergio Pinto who is serving a suspension after picking up his fifth yellow card.

Borussia Dortmund - Borussia Mönchengladbach

Michael Bradley will take his normal spot in midfield as the Foals travel up state to take on Dortmund on Saturday.

After two draws in a row, Gladbach will be looking to get back on the winning end of things and will have a good chance against an injury-hit Dortmund, who has had more losses in the last five games then they had in the entire first half.

Dortmund is trying to keep pace with the top of the table and is still holding on to fifth place, which means a spot in European competition next year. With a win this weekend, Gladbach could move up three spots and into the top half of the table.

The Foals should have a full squad to choose from, with only midfielder Thorben Marx missing.

While Dortmund will be happy to see Sebastian Kehl back in the line-up after nearly a one-year absence, they will be without two of their most solid young players – midfielder Sven Bender and defender Mats Hummels.

They will also be without midfielders Markus Feulner, who is still recovering from an ankle surgery and Tinga, who is recovering from a quadriceps injury.

Notes

Ricardo Clark will be on the bench and looking for his first shot at playing time on Saturday when Eintracht Frankfurt host FC Schalke 04. Jermaine Jones is still rehabilitating a broken leg and will not feature.

Jared Jeffrey is not expected to dress for Mainz as the club plays Hoffenheim away on Sunday.

Luis Robles will watch from the bench at home on Saturday when Kaiserslautern host FSV Frankfurt. Matt Taylor will most likely not feature.

David Yelldell is not expected to start but could watch from the bench as Koblenz to Oberhausen on Friday.
