Helmond Sport hosted Fortuna Sittard on Monday evening but couldn't find the back of the net as both teams ended in a scoreless result.

American Charles Kazlauskas started in the midfielder and went the full 90 minutes for the home team.

Johan Voskamp nearly added to his league leading 17 goals midway through the first half. The striker chipped Fortuna's goalkeeper Danny Wintjens on to have the ball saved off the goal-line by Sven Verdonck.

Just minutes before the half-time whistle, the visitors Ramon Voorn blasted a free-kick from just outside the penalty area that 'keeper Robert Van Westerop tipped over his own crossbar.

Helmond midfielder Ilja Van Leerdam received a yellow card in the 73rd minute from referee Jeroen Sanders for a clumsy tackle.

With the game winding down, Voskamp played a neat ball over the top that saw Kazlauskas sprint ahead of the last two defenders. The American's shot from just inside the penalty area was pushed wide of the far post by Wintjens.

Helmond will travel to Eindhoven on Friday to face FC Eindhoven.
