Sebastian Troupe is eager to start his 2010 campaign with Baerum SK after using the Norwegian preseason to become a more versatile player on the club's back line.

The 17 year old Troupe spent the bulk of last season playing at right back but has since seen the Baerum coaching staff utilize him in a central defending role and even a central midfielding capacity.

The switch is an indication that the club brass expects the dual citizen to carry a bigger responsibility heading into this season, something that Troupe warmly welcomes.

"I played one game at central midfielder tin preseason and three games at center back," Troupe recounted to YA. "It went really well. I did my best playing in the central defense so I think center back is my best position right now in addition to right back."

Even though Baerum play in the 2. Division, Norway's third level of soccer, the squad has had success against superior competition in recent years including last year's skinning of Eliteserien club Stromsgodset in the Norwegian Cup.

As for this year's regular season campaign, the defender is straightforward when revealing what his goals are from both a personal and team perspective.

"My goals for this season are to play more matches than last season," explained Troupe. "Now, I've been playing well and I want to start the first game and stay there the rest of the season. As for the team, we want to be in the 1. Division within the next three years so our goal is to be on top from day one."

The son of a South Bend, Indiana native has previously played for the Norwegian Under-17 team at a tournament that was not sanctioned by UEFA or FIFA, thus opening up the possibility of joining one of the US youth national teams.

In the past, Troupe has fully expressed his desire to play for the Red, White and Blue if he were ever to be called by the USSF.

But for now, his options remain open as the USSF has yet to make any communication with the defender.

"They have not directly contacted me. I've only heard of some rumors but I have not talked with anyone at the USSF," concluded Troupe.

Troupe and Baerum kick off their 2010 2. Division season on April 17th when they travel to Frigg.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
