JON VAN WAGENEN - Sunday, March 21, 2010
Ryan Miller and Alejandro Bedoya will start, while Michael Thomas may make his first-team debut in the Allsvenskan's second week.
Elfsborg – Halmstad
American Michael Thomas will be on the active roster for the first time as Halmstad travels to Borås. Ryan Miller should be in his usual starting right back slot.
Thomas missed the season opener while the team sorted out his contract details, although he was active in the preseason and even netted a goal with a youth squad.
The 22-year old midfielder is on a four month contract, so expect the team to throw him into the action sooner than later.
Forward Jose Sise, who suffered a head injury in the season opener, is healthy again for Halmstad. Anselmo and Markus Gustafsson are out.
Fredrik Berglund och Emir Bajrami return from injury for Elfsborg, while Stefan Ishizaki and Jari Ilola will be inactive.
Malmö – Örebro
After a steady win in the opener, Alejandro Bedoya and Örebro travel to southernmost Sweden to take on Zlatan Ibrahimovich's mother club.
Örebro's three forwards will be motivated by the news that Örebro has acquired the rights to Paulinho Guará from Hammarby. The 30 year old Brazilian spent the last season in Korea, but is a known quantity in the Allsvenskan.
Bedoya indicated that Boston College teammate Charlie Davies, also formerly of Hammarby, had described Guara as a goal-scorer. With over 50 goals in his five Allsvenskan seasons, the description seems apt.
Improving the forward spot seems to be an interest of the club, who are also testing Nigerian youth player Danny Uchechi.
Malmo makes its home debut after Johan Dalin saved a penalty in the 0-0 opener against GAIS.
Star striker Edward Ofere will be a game time decision for the home team.
