MEGHAN BRENNAN - Tuesday, April 13, 2010
Despite an injury to captain Geir Ludvig Fevang, IK Start with Hunter Freeman and Clay Goodson, are eager to secure their third win in a row when they face Odd Grenland on Wednesday at home.
Three is Start's magic number this week.
Home to the American defensive duo of Freeman and Goodson, Start is one of three teams without a loss in the Eliteserien. They've earned three wins and an additional victory over Odd will mean three in a row.
It will also, most likely, pull in them into the top three of the league standings and striker Ole Martin Arst is the Eliteserien's third highest scorer.
While it appears lady luck is on their side, Start's talent riddled squad, will hope to not have to rely on leprechauns and clovers to continue their hot streak, even without Fevang.
The captain, who fell victim to a hamstring injury in the 4-3 win over Brann last Sunday, will be out for at least two weeks.
Head coach Knut Torum will count on Christer Kleiven and Arst to lead the offensive attack. Like Arst, Kleiven is one of Eliteserein's top scorers with five goals in as many games.
Sor Arena visitors, eighth placed Odd, come off a 1-3 home loss to Rosenborg in which head coach Dag-Eilev Fagermo was disappointed with his team's inability to establish scoring opportunities.
Freeman and Goodson will do their best to create an equally difficult offensive environment for Odd as they will be starting at right and center back respectively.
