Charles Kazlauskas and Helmond Sport wrapped up the regular season with a victory over FC Emmen on Friday evening, putting them in the Jupiler League playoffs on the last possible day of competition.

The first half was quiet, with neither team making a threat on the others goalkeeper but just 10 minutes in to the second half Marc Höcher had a chance to put his team ahead.

Midfielder Erik Van der Ven was deemed to have handled the ball in the penalty area from a Kazlauskas cross and referee Jochem Kamphuis pointed to the penalty spot. Höcher's penalty, which was right down the middle, was easily saved by Emmen goalkeeper Zeinstra Harm .

Johan Voskamp finally put the home team on the board in the 72nd minute with his 20th goal of the season. The ball bounced around the penalty area before it fell to Helmond's leading scorer who made no mistake picking out the far post from just inside the penalty area.

Höcher made amends for his earlier miss from the penalty spot with a goal in stoppage time. The striker had a wide open net to score on following a corner kick clearance, Harm had left the goal open when he charged to the penalty spot during the last gasp corner kick.

By virtue of their eighth place finish Helmond Sport will face FC Den Bosch in the home and home series beginning Monday evening.
