PREVIEW: SUNDAY FINNISH ACTION
RECAPS
EXTRA TIME
TRAFTON KENNEY - Sunday, May 30, 2010
It is back to Veikkausliiga action for the Americans in Finland with Greg Eckhardt and VPS hosting Honka while Daniel Antunez and FC Inter welcome in AC Oulu.

VPS - FC Honka

Greg Eckhardt and VPS hope to move up the standings when they travel to Tapiola on Sunday to face high-flying FC Honka.

Former Clemson standout Eckhardt is expected to feature in the game after playing 28 minutes against MyPa.

VPS are high on confidence after advancing to the seventh round of the Finnish Cup last Thursday, but with only three days to recover, Sunday's game will prove to be a test of fitness.

FC Honka currently sit in second place, just a point behind HJK, but have a game in hand. With just one loss this season, they will be looking to close the gap at the top.

American goalkeeper Brian Pope is still sidelined with a shoulder injury.

FC Inter - AC Oulu

One step closer to retaining their Finnish Cup crown, FC Inter will look to translate their domestic success to Veikkausliiga play when they host AC Oulu on Monday in search of their first home win this season.

American midfielder Daniel Antunez played 94 minutes of the team's 1-0 overtime win over second division KPV Kokkola on Thursday and could earn the start on Monday while coach Job Dragtsma will have to make do without the injured Mika Ojala in midfield after a reckless tackle by Ville Luokkala in Thursday's game.

Ojala is expected to recover quicker than expected, but Joni Kauko and Patrick Bantamoi are still struggling to return from long-term injuries.

AC Oulu have endured a similarly slow start to the season and sit even with FC Inter with five points from six games. A win for either team could move them out of the relegation zone.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
