American goalkeeper Luis Robles has joined the German second-league club Karlsruher SC after three years with FC Kaiserslautern.

The 26-year-old signed a two-year contract with KSC and will wear the number 32.

"I am happy that everything has been settled and am excited about the new challenges ahead of me," Robles said in a statement from the club. "I have a very positive impression from the team and the environment."

Robles has played in a total of 21 second-league games and was used mostly as a second choice behind Tobias Sippel – especially in the 2008/09 season when Sippel was out with a broken arm.

After Robles' contract expired at the end of June, he saw opportunity with KSC after starter Markus Miller left for Hannover 96.

The 26-year-old will be competing for time in goal against Kristian Nicht and Jeff Kornetzky.
