Dimitri Payet scored a hat trick to lead Saint Etienne to an impressive win over RC Lens on Saturday evening. Carlos Bocanegra, who assisted on Payet's second goal, played the full 90 minutes at left back.

It took the 23-year old midfielder just five minutes to open his account after Bakary Sako picked him out with a left wing cross and Payet fired home from the left corner of the box.

Payet added his second after picking up the ball from Bocanegra, charging through the midfield, and finishing to the bottom left corner past a stranded Vedran Runje.

Payet found the same corner again to complete his hat trick after taking down a lofted cross from Emmanuel Riviere and finishing with ease.

A solid team performance from Saint Etienne was soured somewhat after Sylvain Marchal was sent off for retaliating against Issam Jemaa who in turn slotted home a late consolation goal for the visitors.

Saint Etienne move up to fourth place and travel to Toulouse next Saturday.
