Sammy Ochoa was a starter again for Estudiantes who played to a frustrating draw with Morelia while the woes continued for Jose Francisco Torres and Pachuca.

Estudiantes 1 - 1 Morelia

Ochoa started up front for the hosts and went the first 79 minutes as Estudiantes battled to a draw with visiting Morelia at Estadio Tres de Marzo on Friday night.

For all the world it looked as if Ochoa and company would secure the three points but a late Morelia goal sent both teams homes with a point a piece.

The American forward was active in the first half and could have likely helped Estudiantes earn a penalty kick after being brought down in the area, however the whistle never sounded from the referee and Ochoa was left looking incredulous.

The hosts tallied the first goal of the match in the 49th minute when Elgabry Rangel managed to head in a deflected shot. It was just reward for Estudiantes who were the more attacking team coming out of halftime.

But Morelia had enough resolve in their system to find an equalizer and it came in excruciating fashion for the hosts in the 89th minute.

A corner kick in front of the Estudiantes net resulted in a mad scramble only to see the ball fall to Morelia's Jaime Lozano who volleyed it in to snag a point for the visitors.

Estudiantes next return to action on September 11th when they visit Atlante.

Puebla 3 - 1 Pachuca

The troubles continue for Pachuca who were swept away by a strong finishing Puebla on Sunday evening at Estadio Cuauhtémoc in Puebla.

Torres started for the Tuzos in the midfield and went the full distance in the loss and also picked up a yellow card in the 88th minute.

Compatriot and former Puebla striker Herculez Gomez was an 80th minute substitute for the Tuzos. American Marco Vidal did not see any action.

A goalless first half gave way to an action-packed second half that saw Pachuca score first in the 64th minute.

An Alvaro Gonzalez foul on Darío Cvitanich set up Damian Manso's free kick which he rifled into the back of the net giving the visitors the lead.

But Puebla would only need a minute to answer back as Nicolas Olivera found Gabriel Pereyra whose shot bounced off the left post and into the net.

Puebla added a second in the 85th minute when Roberto Carlos Juárez headed in a cross off a corner kick.

The late goal was a crushing one for Torres and company who desperatly seeked a late equalizer only to get burned for a third time.

A Pereyra corner kick found Alejandro Acosta at the back post and it was an easy header for Acosta to cap off the match for Puebla.

Pachuca will hope to turn things around next time out on September 11th when they host Chivas.

Notes

Edgar Castillo was a 77th minute substitute helping San Luis pick up three points versus Atlante in a 2-1 win.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
