Ryan Miller and Halmstad headed up north along the Swedish coast to Gothenburg on Wednesday evening and salvaged a draw against GAIS at Gamla Ullevi Stadium as part of midweek action in the Allsvenskan.

Miller started and went the full 90 in defense for the visitors.

It was a much needed point for Halmstad who nudged themselves up the league standings to 12th and are now two points above the dreaded relegation playoff spot.

Bjorn Andersson put the hosts on the board first in the 21st minute with a goal off a free kick that came on the heels of a frenzied first 20 minutes where GAIS constantly attacked the Halmstad zone.

Slowly Halmstad worked their way into the match with various chances including one in the 54th minute that saw Miller begin a counterattack that almost resulted in a goal.

Miller and company finally did get their equalizer six minutes form time when Tommy Jönsson gathered in a cross from the left side and fired home for the goal.

Halmstad now sit at 12th place with 26 points in the Allsvenskan and just six more matches remaining on the season.

Next up for the club is a Monday night match-up at Gefle.
