Maurice Edu was a 90 minute man as Rangers snuck out of Tynecastle Stadium with a win on Saturday versus Hearts.

Edu started at midfield and went the distance for head coach Walter Smith whose squad needed two goals in the final ten minutes to snatch away a victory in Edinburgh.

For a while it looked as if the Jambos would be the first to get points off of the Light Blues this season until a Kyle Lafferty equalizer ten minutes from time and last-gasp goal from Steven Naismith undid the hosts.

Hearts were first on the board in just the 12th minute when Rudi Skacel scored to fire up the home fans.

A counterattack for Hearts saw Kevin Kyle send in a ball to Skacel who evaded a couple Rangers defenders before firing past Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor.

Smith's men looked for an equalizer before the halftime whistle but came up short.

The second half saw Rangers continue to push and it eventually came to a head when Lafferty struck gold in the 80th minute.

The lanky Northern Irishman rifled in a low screamer that stung the twine and evened things up for the visitors.

Naismith would then display his heroics in the third minute of second half stoppage time when Lafferty slipped in a pass that allowed Naismith to angle in towards goal and he made no mistake with his shot much to the dismay of the home faithful.

The win keeps Edu and company out in front in the Scottish Premier League standings with their next match in two weeks time against Motherwell.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
