RONGEN NAMES ROSTER FOR ATLANTA TOURNEY
RECAPS
EXTRA TIME
BRIAN SCIARETTA - Tuesday, November 9, 2010
United States Under-20 national team coach Thomas Rongen announced today the roster for the Torneo de las Americas that will be held later this month in Kennesaw, Georgia.

The roster includes some players that have not played much for the U20 national team this cycle because of club duty but who are expected to be important parts of the team.

Sebastian Lletget of West Ham United has missed most of this year with a serious bout of mononucleosis but he is now healthy and will look to reemerge with the team.

Los Angeles Galaxy forward Tristan Bowen has seen more first team action that any other player on the roster. When Landon Donovan and Edson Buddle left for the World Cup, Bowen helped the Galaxy fill the void. He is still playing regularly for the club who are still alive in the MLS Cup playoffs.

The most intriguing inclusion is Maccabi Haifa winger Alex Zahavi who will be playing for the US despite still needing to make his FIFA switch if he wants to play for the US in U20 World Cup qualifying next year. He previously represented Portugal's U17 national team in UEFA qualifiers.

Zahavi has been battling injuries in his first season in Israel but has recently regained his health and is part of the club's first team.

At the tournament, the US will be led by regulars Gale Agbossoumonde, Moises Orozco, Alex Molano and Juan Agudelo whom are all likely to be a part of the team that takes part in the World Cup qualifying tournament in Guatemala in early April.

The US will be missing several regulars, however. Dillon Powers, Zac MacMath, and Zarek Valentin are still in the middle of their college seasons and will not be with the US team.

Rongen will also be without star forwards Adrian Ruelas currently at Celtic and Bobby Wood of 1860 Munich who are currently with their clubs.

The US will take on Colombia on November 26 and arch-rival Mexico on November 28.

Yanks Abroad will be in Kennesaw providing detailed coverage of the tournament.
