Another goal from Jozy Altidore capped off Villarreal's decisive victory over Polideportivo Ejido in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday night at Estadio Madrigal in Villarreal.

Altidore started and went the distance for the hosts who put to bed the ghosts of 2008 when the Poli swept aside the Yellow Submarine in the tournament's same round.

The US international was joined up top by Marco Ruben who was playing his first match in weeks due to injury.

The Argentine striker and Altidore made life difficult for the Poli defense from the opening whistle however it was young pup Jefferson Montero who put the hosts ahead first.

A poor clearance from the Poli defense allowed the Ecuadorian winger to pounce on a ball that he hammered into the back of the net in the 17th minute.

Altidore thought he had a goal right before the break but the linesman adjudged the former Hull City man to be offsides on a pass from Montero.

A sleepy second half saw Villarreal continue to dominate their Segunda B opposition and finally it was Altidore who ended any doubts of extra time when he scored in the 90th minute.

Ruben served up a ball on a silver platter, allowing the American striker an easy stroke into an open net for his second goal of the season.

With the win, Villarreal now advance to the Round of 16 of the Copa del Rey.

Altidore and company will return to league action this weekend when they travel to Catalunya for their much-anticipated match-up with FC Barcelona at Camp Nou.
