EDU HOPEFUL ABOUT KNEE SCAN
RECAPS

Rangers midfielder Maurice Edu will be hoping for the best on Friday when he undergoes a scan on the knee he injured in Wednesday's night 0-3 loss to Hibernian.

Edu was hurt on a tackle by Hibs' John Rankin in the waning minutes of the first half.

Rankin' lunging tackle brought down the California native hard and ultimately the American had to leave the field on a stretcher.

Should the results of the scan come back indicating significant damage, it would be Edu's second major knee injury in less than two years.

In May of 2009 during Rangers' season finale versus Dundee United, a tackle by United's Darren Dods tore ligaments in the knee of the former Maryland standout who was then sidelined for seven months.

Despite having to be stretchered off in front of the home faithful on Wednesday night, Edu feels optimistic that his injury this time around is not as severe.

"I go for a scan tomorrow, "Edu confirmed to YA. "It's the same knee. I'm not sure exactly when I'll find out about [the results], but I don't think it's as bad."

Edu has featured in all 12 Scottish Premier League matches for Rangers this season scoring one goal.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
