Eugene Starikov picked up another start for FC Tom Tomsk who once again fought to a draw, this time at home versus Alania Vladikavkaz on Saturday at Trud Stadium.

Starikov started up top at striker and played the first 81 minutes before yielding his spot to Daisuke Matsui.

Now with just two matches remaining in the Russian Premier League season, Tomsk need a single point in either of their final contests to ensure a place in the 2011 RPL.

Tomsk got off to a roaring start earning a penalty kick in just the third minute of play thanks to Starikov.

Artem Dzjuba looped a pass into the area to the onrushing Russian-American who nodded it slightly forward with his head in an attempt to create some space away from the defense.

But Alania defender Semion Bulgaru had other ideas and clipped the on-loan forward from Zenit St. Petersburg in the area.

Starikov went down hard and the referee quickly whistled for the penalty kick which Dzjuba converted.

The young Floridian continued to apply pressure on the visitors' defense as Tomsk but were unable to break through for a second goal.

That lack of finishing came back to haunt the Siberians in the 66th minute when Alania found the equalizer.

A free kick into the area was poorly played by Tomsk goalkeeper Alexei Polyakov who came way off his line and found himself entangled with his own defenders.

The ball had landed at the feet of Alania midfielder Georgi Gabulov who danced around several Tomsk defenders before depositing a shot in the top left corner of the net.

Tomsk next hit the road to face Sibir Novosibirsk on Saturday.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
