Young Amercian JC Banks will have at least offer in his pocket to start 2011 as Swedish Superettan club Hammarby has offered the midfielder a contract.

Banks' representative indicated that an offer has been made by Charlie Davies' former club after Banks impressed club officials during a trial two months ago.

"[Hammarby] will be offering a contract this week," confirmed Banks' agent, Eddie Rock, to YA. "He was on trial there in November."

Banks, the son of former US national team player Jimmy Banks and a Wisconsin native, had recently undergone a round of trials with various Swedish clubs in addition to Hammarby.

In the last few weeks the former University of Wisconsin-Green Bay standout trialed at Superettan club Degerfors and Allsvenskan group Trelleborgs.

Should Banks not come to terms with Hammarby, he will also have an opportunity to show his game stateside after being invited to the 2011 MLS combine next month in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

"He is still planning on attending the MLS combine," concluded Rock.

They need much more then that to return to Allsvenskan Reine. Wonder how it will affect the economy of Hammarby, they already have large problems with it.

Very cool! Best wishes for a second generation player. (I was a fan of Jimmy Banks back in the 80s and 90s).
