American goalkeeper Colin Burns will spend the 2011 season on loan to Norwegian 1. Division club Sandefjord after agreeing to the move late last week.

Burns' parent club, Sarpsborg, was promoted from the 1. Division to the Eliteserien following the 2010 season.

The former Ljungskile man only saw action in three games for Sarpsborg, all coming in the Norwegian Cup.

Ironically, Burns joins a club that spent the 2010 season in the Eliteserien, however were relegated after finishing in last place.

The 28 year old native of Newark, Delaware will be battling Iven Austbo for the starting position on the squad.

"Colin Burns has joined SF on-loan until November 30, 2011," Sandefjord Sports Director Arne Dokken confirmed to YA.

The netminder had signed a two year agreement with Sarpsborg in November of 2009.

Burns and Sandefjord will begin their 2011 1. Division campaign when they host Steve Clark and Kenneth Di Vita Jensen's Honefoss.
