On Monday night American Clint Dempsey had his game deciding penalty saved by Peter Cech to keep the contest scoreless in London.

Didier Drogba was dropped to the bench as new signing Fernando Torres yet again failed to yield the Blues any points after his move from Liverpool last month. Fulham opted to defend for their lives and looked to have pulled one over their next door neighbor as David Luis made one of his only mistake of the game by bringing Dempsey down in the box.

The American picked himself up went to the penalty spot to take his own penalty in what would be Fulham's last attempt of the game. Dempsey did his best, shooting towards the bottom left corner but Peter Cech was at full stretch to get his team out of jail and earn a share of the spoils.

Questions were raised that Dempsey should have been able to retake the penalty kick due to encroachment, but the referee allowed play to continue. Steve Sidewell and Zoltan Gera were booked for Fulham while Branislav Ivanovic was booked for Chelsea. Fulham face the winner of Wednesday's Bolton versus Wigan FA Cup game.

I haven't seen Dempsey's PK, but I never like for the player who suffered the penalty to take the spot kick. In my opinion, there's too much adrenaline and I've seen too many players not score in that instance.
