Norwegian 1. Division club Mjondalen has announced that American Rhett Bernstein has signed a contract to join the team for the 2011 season.

Bernstein played his college soccer at Brown University before several short-tem playing stints in Sweden, Israel and Puerto Rico.

He was most recently with the San Diego Sockers in the Professional Arena Soccer League.

Bernstein had been joined by fellow American Mike Zaher during the trial.

The club noted that they were impressed with Bernstein and extended him an offer however they elected to pass on signing Zaher.

"Rhett Bernstein has signed a contract with the club," confirmed Mjondalen Sporting Director Kenneth Karlsen to YA."Mike was not offered anything."

Mjondalen had been the previous home of American defender Graham Dugoni who appears to have left the club in search of a playing future in MLS.

Bernstein and Mjondalen open their 1. Division season on April 3rd against Kongsvinger.
