Christian Camacho and Sfintul Gheroghe were unable to shake off the rust from the long winter break as they fell to Academia UTM in Moldovan Divizia Nationala action on Wednesday.
Camacho started at attacking midfielder for the guests and went the full 90 minutes in the defeat.
Coming into the match Academia were 22 points ahead of Sfintul in the standings yet for the first half hour, the two teams were on equal footing with each club having its share of chances.
Academia finally woke up in the 38th minute and scored courtesy of Maxim Potirniche who sent in a well-placed free kick that found the back of the net.
Sfintul tried to find an equalizer but Camacho and company were unable to muster many opportunities and before long, Academia doubled the margin in the 68th minute.
This time it was Vladimir Potlog who snuck a volley through several Sfintul defenders off a corner kick.
The loss keeps Sfintul stuck in 13th place with nine points in the 14 team standings.
Camacho and Sfintul will hope to get back on the winning track this weekend when they host Dinamo Bender.
