DAVID SMITH - Tuesday, April 12, 2011
Babajide Ogunbiyi and Viborg blew past AB Copenhagen for a vital win while Benny Feilhaber made an early return from injury to help Aarhus earn a draw with Vestsjaelland.

Viborg FF 3 - 0 AB Copenhagen

Babajide Ogunbiyi went the distance for Viborg on Sunday as they pulled closer to safety with a strong 3-0 win at home over AB Copenhagen.

Jesper Kjærulff put the team ahead at the hour mark as he hit from the spot after the Academics were whistled for a penalty, then Jeff Mensah doubled it five minutes later after he was set up with a long pass by Nicolai Melchiorsen.

His brother Kevin Mensah the put the game completely out of reach with eight minutes left on the clock, after he did fine work to escape his marking defender and nailed his shot past the Copenhagen keeper for 3-0.

The win leaves the Greens still just in the relegation zone, however they are just one point from safety and in the midst of a pack of six teams separated by three points ahead of their Wednesday-evening visit to 10th-place Skive.

FC Vestsjaelland 1 - 1 AGF Aarhus

Benny Feilhaber entered Aarhus game at Vestsjaelland on Sunday as a 65th minute substitute, and made his mark by assisting on the winning goal in the 1-1 draw between the two teams.

Taking the cautious approach after his star midfielder had missed the previous game with a thigh injury, Aarhus coach Peter Sørensen waited until five minutes after the hour to bring the American into the game for Sanel Kapidzic, however his move paid off as the game reached its conclusion.

With the game looking headed for a scoreless draw, Feilhaber split the defense with a fine pass to Søren Berg, who took the ball and put his shot on frame for the late 1-0 lead.

Their jubilation was short-lived, however, as a loose ball in the Aarhus box eventually landed at the feet of Mark Leth Pedersen just seconds later, allowing him to poke it over the line for the unexpected equalizer.

Aarhus are still in command of the First Division despite the disappointing result, with Køge seven points back in second and Vejle ten off the pace.

They will next host one of the league's surprise over-achievers Roskilde in Wednesday-night action.

Chris Rolfe sat as an unused substitute on Sunday afternoon as last-place Aalborg put up another lifeless performance in their scoreless draw at home with AC Horsens.

Michael Parkhurst is out injured and did not participate on Sunday in Nordsjaelland's 2-0 road win over SønderjyskE.

Clarence Goodson is apparently recovered from his injury, but was an unused substitute on Sunday when Brøndby went on the road to draw 1-1 with Odense BK.
