JOHN KRETLOW - Tuesday, April 12, 2011
Zak Whitbread and Norwich City face a tricky test against Watford while Eric Lichaj and Leeds could use a win at home versus Conor Doyle's Derby County.

Norwich City – Watford

Zak Whitbread and Norwich City take on Watford in a crucial midweek game.

Whitbread started and went the distance for the Canaries in their last game. The American should again feature against Watford.

Norwich are holding on to a one point lead for the final automatic promotion spot with six games left to play in the season. The Canaries cannot afford to give up points with Cardiff and Swansea looming close behind.

Watford are coming off three straight losses and will be hungry to get three points against a desperate City team.

Wesley Hoolahan and Aaron Wilbraham look to miss for the Canaries.

Watford comes into the game unscathed but could make some changes in the lineup due to the quick turnaround.

Leeds United – Derby County

Eric Lichaj and Leeds United take on Derby County in a midweek Championship battle.

Lichaj started and went the distance in United's last game. He is expected to feature against Derby.

Leeds hold on to the last playoff spot by four points, and cannot afford to lose this Tuesday.

They go into the game now at full-full strength.

Derby come into the game in the bottom half of the standings and are looking to end the final stretch of the season on a positive note. A win against United could very well set them to this goal.

Defenders' Dean Leacock and Gareth Roberts could both miss, leaving Derby coach Nigel Clough a tough assignment of replacing his back line.

Preston North End – Doncaster Rovers

Eddie Johnson and Preston North End take on Doncaster Rovers in midweek action.

Johnson started and got an assist in North End's tie against Portsmouth this weekend. He is likely to feature once again for Preston.

North End are currently seven points from safety with six games left and will be desperate for three points against Doncaster.

Conor McLaughlin, Leon Cort, Sean St Ledger, and David Gray will miss for Preston.

Doncaster go into the game having lost three in a row and will look to reverse their luck against North End.

Rovers' Joseph Mills is nursing a hamstring injury and will be sidelined.

Carlisle United – Leyton Orient

Frank Simek and Carlisle United travel to play Leyton Orient in midweek League one play.

Simek is a regular starter for the Cumbrians and will feature against Leyton Orient.

Carlisle are coming off a tough loss against MK Dons and are looking to change their luck.

Ben Marshall is out for the season with an ankle injury for Carlisle.

Leyton Orient are only three points from a playoff spot and will be go for the crucial three points against the Cumbrians.

Alex Revell and Ben Chorley are doubtful to play due to injuries for Orient.

Brad Guzan's loan ended with Hull City and has returned to Aston Villa.

So will Guzan be No. 2 at Villa again or will he be relegated to No. 3? And if so, will he seek a sale or additional loan to keep playing for rest of the season? He is too good to sit, he is in prime of career, and need playing minutes as he got at Hull (and where he did so well). Friedel is not ready to retire yet, surely he plays another season or more, so if I was Guzan or his agent, I would be looking for a new team next season and will Bradley keep him for summer tourneys or drop him for Yeldell or Hanumann or another rising young keeper who needs exposure?
