NICK LEYDEN - Friday, April 15, 2011
Jozy Altidore will look to build on last week's goalscoring performance when Bursaspor visits the league leaders, while Freddy Adu and Rizespor continue their fight for a spot in the promotion playoffs against Boluspor.
Trabzonspor Ė Bursaspor
Fresh off scoring his first Turkish goal in a lively performance against Antalyaspor last weekend, Jozy Altidore will face a stiffer test when Bursaspor visit first place Trabzonspor in the H. Avni Aker Stadium on Sunday.
With Scottish marksman Kenny Miller surely to be the main focus of the hosts' defense though, Altidore may again have the opportunity to shine and add to his Super Lig tally.
Though Bursaspor sit in third place they have struggled lately, failing to win a league game since February, and the chances of moving into one of the two Champions League spots are almost non-existent.
Trabzonspor, on the other hand, have won five in a row, a streak that includes victories over traditional powerhouses Galatasaray and Besiktas.
Boluspor - «aykur Rizespor
Following a heated 1-0 victory over Kartalspor last weekend, which kept Rizespor alive for a promotion spot, Freddy Adu and crew face a tough road game against Boluspor on Saturday afternoon.
The third place visitors are only two points out of second place, but Boluspor also have designs on promotion, or at least a spot in the playoffs.
The hosts are currently sixth in the standings, but only two points separate them from Rizespor.
Last week Adu started brightly, but faded by halftime and was replaced early in the second half.
He is likely to be in the starting eleven again, as he can be Rizespor's most creative and dangerous attacker when he has the ball. But it remains to be seen if he will be fit and consistent enough to last the full 90.
