BRIAN SCIARETTA - Friday, April 22, 2011
After firing head coach Guillermo Rivarola midweek and replacing him Juan Guzman, Sporting Cristal will travel to take on Universidad Cesar Vallejo and American Diego Chavarri is expected to take part.

Sporting Cristal entered into the season as a potential contender but after nine rounds, the team sits in ninth place with just 11 points in the Peruvian Primera Division.

Now the team will look to climb the standings with Guzman at the helm. His first test on Saturday will come against Universidad Cesar Vallejo who are also at 11 points in the standings.

New York City's Diego Chavarri returned last week from an ankle injury and played well offensively for Sporting Cristal as they tied Cobresol 1-1. Chavarri will hope to start on Saturday and resume his strong start to the season.

In the game, Universidad Cesar Vallejo will be without defender Lee Andonayre and midfielder Jorge Luis Cazulo who must sit out with red card suspensions.

Sporting Cristal are not reporting any injuries at this time.
