ARREOLA ON TRIAL AT JAGUARES

BRIAN SCIARETTA - Tuesday, July 5, 2011
After playing with the US U-20 national team in the spring, UCLA winger Eder Arreola is training with Mexican Primera club Jaguares but the club says they will consider making an offer if he plays well.

Arreola, 19, is coming off his junior season at UCLA and has not lost his NCAA eligibility by participating in this training session with Jaguares.

"I can confirm you that Eder Areola is training with us." Jaguares press officer Jesus Ortega told YA. "The head coach, José Guadalupe Cruz, will decide if he can be a Jaguares de Chiapas player in a few days. Right now itīs just a possibility because the season itīs very close so we don't know if he can show all his skills in two weeks."

Arreola was a member of the US U-20 World Cup qualifying team in March but suffered an injury during the tournament and was not able to play in the team's 2-1 loss to hosts Guatemala in the quarterfinals that kept them out of the U-20 World Cup.

During that tournament in the group stage, Arreola set up both goals in a 2-0 win over Panama.

This is probably one of the most unfortunate last names of all time.
