In the 60th minute Estudiantes would equalize when Jorge Zamogilny headed home a corner kick to make the score 1-1.

Ten minutes later in the 70th minute, Estudiantes would take the lead when Rubens Sambueza hit an unstoppable free kick with his left foot into the top corner past helpless America keeper Armando Navarrete. The goal would put Estudiantes up 2-1 and would prove to be the eventual game winner.

Next Sunday, America returns to action when they host San Luis.

Estudiantes Tecos will look to build off this win on Friday when they host Tigres.

Pachuca 1-0 Cruz Azul

Pachuca picked up their first win of the season on Wednesday night when they grabbed a late winner to defeat Cruz Azul.

Jose Torres started and went the distance for Pachuca.

After the teams played even for nearly the whole game, Pachuca would finally pull ahead when they were awarded a corner kick in the 87th minute.

Pachuca will look to continue to climb the Mexican Primera standings when they visit Queretaro on Saturday.

Atlante 5-1 Puebla

Puebla's strong start to the season came to an abrupt halt on Wednesday as they were manhandled by Atlante on the road.

DaMarcus Beasley got the start for Puebla and played the full 90 minutes.

Luis Venga struck first for Atlante in the 23rd minute when he poked in a low cross from 6 yards past Puebla keeper Mario Rodriguez for a 1-0 lead.

Giancarlo Maldonado would put Atlante up 2-0 when he converted a penalty after Puebla were whistled for a handball in the box. On the penalty Maldonado shot towards his left with Rodriguez guessing the wrong way.

In the 41st minute, Atlante would turn the game into a route when Christian Bermudez made a nice run up the middle on a counter attack and converted a tap-in off a cross from the right side.

Lucas Silva would pull one back for Puebla in the 57th minute when he took advantage of a clumsy turnover in the central defense and moved in all alone on Atlante keeper Moises Munoz. Silva easily score with a low shot to make the score 3-1.

In the 77th minute Bermudez would add his second goal of the game when he took a long pass over the defense and beat Rodriguez with a low shot from 15 yards for a 4-1 lead.

In injury time, Juan Cuevas turned the game into a blowout when he sent an absolute rocket into the top of the net from 18 yards out with his first touch after Puebla defenders had seemingly given up on a loose ball.

Puebla will look to get back on track this Sunday when they host Jaguares.
