RECAP: BRYNE FK 0 - 3 HAM-KAM
EXTRA TIME
DAVID SMITH - Wednesday, August 17, 2011
Jonathan Borrajo went the distance at right back for Ham-Kam in Monday-night Adeccoligaen action, helping the team maintain a shut-out to surge past Bryne and end a five-game winless run.

Ham-Kam's earlier surge to first place had dropped off considerably in recent weeks, resulting in a run of four draws and a loss in their last five.

Fortunately for Borrajo and his teammates, most of the other Adeccoligaen teams fighting for promotion had also failed to take the advantage to break free of the pack, still leaving the team well within reach of of the spots destined for the top flight.

They came out of the gates firing on all cylinders and were quick to take the lead over their gracious hosts after just seven minutes. Kristoffer Hagen and Niklas Tilley broke together through the passive Bryne defense, with the latter eventually sliding a pass over to Hagen for a shot over the keeper and into goal for 1-0.

The poor early performance by the hosts was enough to prompt their coach to pull right winger Kim Robert Nyborg in favor of newly-acquired Efe Ehiorobo, however it did little to turn the tide.

Hagen turned provider immediately before the half, surging up the right side and centering a pass to defender John Anders Rise in front of goal, who proceeded to slam it into the net.

They struck again moments after the restart, this time with Alexander Kirkevold receiving the ball close to the target from Edmir Asani, and spinning around his defender before putting away the 46th-minute death-blow to any Bryne hope for a comeback.

The win, their first in well over one month, moves Ham-Kam into the top five of the Adeccoligaen standings, trailing Hønefoss by a single point and league leaders Sandnes Ulf by only six.

They will hope to extend the winning trend to two games on Sunday when they host tenth-place Alta IF.
