PREVIEW: WEEKEND SCOTTISH ACTION
RECAPS
EXTRA TIME
ANDREW VORCE - Friday, August 19, 2011
Carlos Bocanegra is set to make his Scottish Premier League debut while Aleyandro Bedoya looks to replace the suspended Maurice Edu in the midfield in a weekend of Scottish Premier League action.

Motherwell - Rangers

Maurice Edu will miss out on Rangers' weekend trip to Motherwell but new signing Carlos Bocanegra is set to start in the center of defense for the Gers.

Edu misses out after picking up a red card in their 2-0 win over Inverness. American teammate and recent Rangers acquisition Alejandro Bedoya could fill in for Ally McCoist who's squad is looking bare bones at the moment.

The trip to Motherwell will be tricky as they are undefeated in their opening four games, topping the Scottish Premier League with ten points.

Steven Whittaker will return to the Rangers line up next to Bocanegra as the defender was hit with a three game suspension for picking up a straight red card against Malmo FF in the Champions League.

Kyle Bartley, Sasa Papac, and David Weir were all unavailable through injury for Ranger's Thursday night loss away against Maribor. Kyle Lafferty is also recovering from a hernia injury.

Motherwell are coming into the game as early point leaders but had to fight for their last victory, a 1-0 win over St Mirren at St Mirren Park.

Steven Saunders is the biggest miss for Motherwell as the Scotland Under-21 player ruptured his Achilles away on International duty and will be sidelined for up to nine months. Keith Lasley also missed out in that win over St. Mirren as he began serving his sentence for picking up a red card against Hearts.

Notes

Dominic Cervi has likely lost his place on Celtic's bench, and will not be in uniform when they face St. Johnstone at home.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
