MARTY SCOTT - Friday, August 19, 2011
Herculez Gomez will be on the field for Estudiantes when he takes on Jose Francisco Torres and former team Pachuca, while DaMarcus Beasley will look for the start for Puebla as they host Pumas.

Estudiantes Tecos - Pachuca

A pair of Americans will square off this Friday evening at Estadio Tres de Marzo when Jose Fransisco Torres and the Tuzos of Pachuca meet Herculez Gomez and Estudiantes Tecos as the Apertura heats up in the Primera Division.

American striker Gomez will get the start up top for the Estudiantes as interim head coach Jose Luis Salgado will have a full squad to choose from.

The Estudiantes will be looking for their first home win of the season as they try and make it two in a row against the visiting Tuzos.

Pachuca midfielder Jose Fransisco Torres has gotten the nod once again from head coach Efrain Flores as the Tuzos make their way to Jalisco with a full squad as well.

Pachuca currently sits seventh in the standings with seven points while the Estudiantes are ninth with six.

Puebla - Pumas

American winger DaMarcus Beasley will get the start as Puebla FC will welcome in the first place Pumas of UNAM to Estadio Cuauthemoc on Sunday afternoon.

Puebla head coach Sergio Bueno has a full squad to choose from and he will need it against the stingy Pumas defense.

Pumas' head coach Guillermo Vazquez will have defender Marco Antonio Palacios and forward Juan Carlos Cacho unavailable for the match.

The undefeated Pumas currently sit alone atop the standings with 11 points while Puebla are 13th with five points.

America - Atlas

America defender and recent USMNT call up Edgar Castillo will probably get the go ahead once again from head coach Carlos Reinoso as they receive Atlas on Sunday afternoon at Estadio Azteca.

Coach Reinoso will have to plan around having Paul Aguilar and Angel Reyna available on the 18-man roster while Atlas will be without attackers Arturo Paganoni and Mauricio Romero.

America currently find themselves in 12th position in the standings with a game pending as Atlas have fallen down to 15th.
Both teams will be trying to avoid a three game winless streak.

Tigres - San Luis

USMNT central defender Michael Orozco and San Luis will head north to pay a visit to the unbeaten TigresUANL on Saturday at Estadio Universitario.

Tigres` defender Jonathan Bornstein will possibly make the 18-man roster as his club will be without Edgar Pacheco and Juninho while San Luis has a slew of unavailable players as well.

Offensive threats Jaime Correa, Ignacio Torres and Othoniel Arce won`t be available for the Gladiadores on Saturday.

San Luis head coach Marcos Ambriz has his team in tenth place in the standings with two games pending while the Tigres are in sixth and looking for their first home victory of the season.

Leon - Neza

Texas native Marco Vidal and Leon FC have yet to taste defeat as they host third place Neza at Estadio Leon on Saturday.

In a very competitive Liga de Ascenso, Leon FC find themselves in fourth place and American midfielder Marco Vidal has started and played the full 90 minutes in each of the first three games.

Leon head coach Milton Queiroz has a healthy side to select from as they welcome in Neza, who like Leon, also have a full squad and are undefeated this season.

Both teams have seven points respectively, however, Neza has a plus one advantage on goal differential over Leon.

Frankie Lopez and Adrian Ruelas probably won`t make the roster for Chiapas as they travel to Queretero and take on the Gallos Blancos.
