After signing with Liverpool FC this past summer, US Under-18 forward Villyan Bijev is headed to 2. Bundesliga club Fortuna Dusseldorf for the remainder of the season on loan.

Bijev, 18, has already begun training with his new team.

"Villyan Bijev has made his first training appearance on the grounds of Fortuna Düsseldorf today," Fortuna press officer Georg Oeltzschner told YA. "The loan is valid until the end of the current season, June 2012."

At this point, it is unclear if Bijev will be playing with the Fortuna first team or second team but the club has said that he will get regular practice with first team

"Since he is a very young player in a new environment, I think it is going to be a matter of time to be able to see in which team he is going to play," Oeltzschner added. "But he is definitely expected to practice with the first team."

Bijev is a dual citizen with the United States and Bulgaria but recently played with the US U-18 team in May for a tournament in Portugal.
