TAYLOR TO JOIN ATLETICO CP
RECAPS
EXTRA TIME
NICK LEYDEN - Friday, September 2, 2011
After a season and a half with Estoril in the Portuguese second division, Tony Taylor will suit up for Liga Orangina rival Atletico CP in 2011-2012.

Taylor's rights are currently owned by the Brazilian sports-based management company Traffic Sports and Traffic Sports director Fernando Clavijo has confirmed the deal to YA.

"Tony Taylor has been loaned to Atletico until July 2012," Fernando Clavio told YA.

Atletico's coach, Joao de Deus, will be anxious to get Taylor on the field to liven up his attack which has managed just one goal in the first two games of the season.

Last year the Florida native scored four goals for Estoril, which is just a few miles from his new home field in suburban Lisbon, despite missing significant time through injury.

Atletico already have one win and one tie under their belt without having left the Lisbon city limits. But next they will fly to the Azores, nearly 1000 miles into the Atlantic Ocean, to take on fellow unbeaten Santa Clara on September 4th.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
