DAVID SMITH - Tuesday, September 13, 2011
Preston Zimmerman will hope to return to Darmstadt's lineup as they visit Saarbrücken while Amaechi Igwe and Babelsberg try to end their growing winless streak against freshly-promoted Chemnitz.

FC Saarbrücken - SV Darmstadt 98

Following the weekend's embarrassing collapse in front of the home crowd against Wacker Burghausen, Preston Zimmerman could be back on the field for Darmstadt when they visit fourth-place Saarbrücken.

Darmstadt were humiliated in their weekend game against their Bavarian opponents, building a 2-0 lead in the first 45 minutes only to concede up a trio of second-half goals, the third while having a man-advantage, on the way to perhaps their toughest loss of the season.

Despite having started the team's previous two games, Zimmerman was left on the bench for that contest, but could find himself back on the field should head coach Kosta Runjaić look to send a jolt through his underperforming squad.

They are coming up against a Saarbrücken team that has been wholly unspectacular despite sitting fourth in the league with an undefeated record, as they have only managed to win three of their eight games while drawing the other five.

They are also suffering the lag of a weekend disappointment, wasting an early lead against VfR Aalen to settle for a draw, and will use the home advantage to their favor in Tuesday's contest to earn the three points.

For Darmstadt, defenders Markus Brüdigam is absent with a knee injury while forward Oliver Heil is recovering from a broken elbow. Midfielder Henry Onwuzuruike is questionable after missing the weekend's loss with a slight knock.

Saarbrücken are missing injured midfielders Lukas Kohler and Abdul Kizmaz, along with Turkish youth international midfielder Ufuk Özbek who must sit due to a red card suspension. Additionally, forward Markus Fuchs is questionable after missing the weekend's game with an adductor injury.

Chemnitzer FC - SV Babelsberg 03

Amaechi Igwe and Babelsberg are quickly seeing their season turn into a relegation battle, and desperately need to notch what would only be their second win of the season on their trip to similarly struggling Chemnitzer FC.

Babelsberg did themselves no favor in their last outing, giving up a goal to visiting Munich-area team Unterhaching on the way to a disappointing 2-1 loss.

While only their second game in the losing column in the current season, it more than offsets the their single win, with a total of just eight points through ten games leaving them hovering an ominous four points above the drop zone.

They will be facing a Chemnitz team which will have a difficult time keep their heads in the game, as they are still coping with the unexpected and tragic absence of their captain Andreas Richter, who had a non-fatal heart attack the previous Thursday in training, and is currently undergoing a battery of tests and therapy to determine whether he can continue his playing career.

Despite the distraction, Chemnitz, who had just earned promotion from the fourth-tier Regionalliga Nord, did manage to overcome an early deficit to beat Carl Zeiss Jena over the weekend for their second win of the season, and are hovering two points ahead of Babelsberg.

Apart from Richter, Chemnitz are missing forward Bastian Henning, who is troubled with a thigh problem, and midfielder Rene Gewelke due to an ACL tear.

Babelsberg are without long-term injury concerns Christian Groß and Kofi Schulz, both due to ligament tears.
