Jurgen Klinsmann announced last night that LA Galaxy forward Landon Donovan has been replaced by Ingolstadt forward Edson Buddle on the USMNT roster for the upcoming friendlies.

Donovan, 29, recently picked up an injury on his right quadriceps that will also keep him out of this week's LA Galaxy game against the New York Red Bulls.

With the injury, it also signifies that Jurgen Klinsmann is yet to have the opportunity to play both Landon Donovan and Clint Dempsey together.

Edson Buddle will arrive in US national team camp after a strong performance for Ingolstadt over the weekend. In a game against Bochum, Buddle scored twice and picked up an assist in a 5-3 loss. Buddle currently has five goals in the 2.Bundesliga this season.

Buddle has been scoring plenty lately in Bundesliga 2, give him a shot before you tear him down eurofan.

I definitely like this choice

Change for the sake of change is just as counter-productive as rigid conservatism. Buddle, just as he was before the World Cup, is scoring goals. It seems that a confident striker is precisely what a team suffering through a scoring drought needs.

Also, Beasley will likely be expected to provide the service (he was listed as a striker, so this change is a wash).

WTH?!?!? wow..really klinsman you chose another old striker lol instead of replacing position for position you picked a striker. Now how are the forwards going to recieve balls?? through long balls and centers only??? man, this game is going to ball either A. boring or B. unattractive. wheres the creativity? wheres the attacking players to replace donovan in this time of need? are there any???

Was listening to espn deportes when the US was playing against Belgium and they were saying without donovan the US has nothing, and without him the USA was playing as bad as it did with Steve Sampson...Please try and find that replacement man! experiment with our younger players in Europe!!!!
