KLINSMANN ANNOUNCES US ROSTER
RECAPS
EXTRA TIME
JAMIE HILL - Thursday, November 3, 2011
US Soccer has announced the national team squad for the pair of upcoming friendlies in Europe. The US will face France on November 11 and Slovenia on November 15.

Jurgen Klinsmann has assembled a roster with few changes from his previous selections.

Clarence Goodson, Robbie Rogers, and Jermaine Jones, who were not called to the October friendlies, return to the fold. Meanwhile, Landon Donovan and Fabian Johnson have recovered from minor injuries. The only first-time player is rarely-used Hertha Berlin utility player Alfredo Morales.

Several players from the last squad have been dropped, such as Jeff Larentowicz, Nick Rimando, Jonathan Spector, Teal Bunbury, and the New York duo of Tim Ream and Juan Agudelo.

These friendlies could be the first chance that US stars Clint Dempsey and Landon Donovan will have to play together under Klinsmann.

The US team will hope to take a step forward after struggling early in the Klinsmann era.

The only issues I have with those called into camp are Robbie Rogers, Kyle Beckerman and maybe Orozco Fiscal & Beasley. Otherwise I think this team shows a good mix of young players with vets. I still believe that JK is searching for who in the Player Pool are best suited to play the style he invisions. With the players in the senior camp and those called into the U-23/20 camp...along with a handful of others fringe players (Bunbury, Aguedelo, Adu, Holden, Torres, Lichaj, Gonzalez, Ream, & John) the USMNT looks well positioned for qualifications (both WC & Olympic) come next year.
We just need a little more time to get the players on the same page and really working together as a team.

Why must we keep seeing Orozco-Fiscal!!! At this point I would rather play with 10 then have him on the field. I think we would have a better shot then him continuously passing to the other team, kicking it out of bounds and losing the ball when he tries to push forward leaving us short handed in the back.

Why is Klinsmann giving the same people chance after chance after chance. I thought the point of meaningless friendlies is to look at a bunch of people. What gives here?

Kobe-

I'm not sure how you award a victory to France based solely on the fact that Gonzalez, Gomez and Rolfe were not included on the roster. Would you honestly expect any of those three to do any more than keep the bench warm?

Our obvious starters on the back line are: Dolo at RB, Timmy Chandler at LB and Boca and Gooch at CB, so I hardly think that Gonzalez is a "game-changer" in the back... Alfredo Morales was included, and frankly he is the only defender I wouldn't mind seeing subbed in late if the Yanks should have a lead.....

Same situation with Rolfe and Gomez... I can't imagine any situation where their presence would make or break the team... There is plenty of superior talent ahead of these guys, so I wouldn't expect any of the players you named to take the pitch even if they had been named to the squad... Klinsy is starting to get a better feel for the players he has at his disposal and which players can be effectively worked into his system...

There are plenty of guys here that you could argue are not first-team quality, but neither are Rolfe, Gomez or Gonzalez.... If we do not get a good result against France, I certainly don't think it will be due to the roster that Jurgen put together.

Are we going to play football, or invade Paris? Look at all these Cherrrrrmans from Hannover, and Hertha, and Hoffenheim on the roster! Vunderbar!
