Mike Grella and Brentford escped their FA Cup game with a victory while the rest of the Americans did not find the field for their respective teams this weekend.

Brentford 1-0 Basingstoke Town

Mike Grella and Brentford took down non league team Basingstoke Town in an FA Cup clash this weekend.

Grella started and played 78 minutes before he was subbed out for Clayton Donaldson.

Sam Saunders scored the pivotal goal for Brentford in the 9th minute. The midfielder shot an impressive free kick that curled around the Town defenders and found the back of the net.

Brentford's Kevin O'Connor received a red card just before halftime, giving Basingstoke Town a huge advantage for the rest of the game.

Despite Brentford's lead, it was Town that was the more dangerous of the sides in the second half.

Basington's Matthew Warner took a low shot to goal, only to be stopped by Brentford keeper Richard Lee in the 82nd minute.

Town nearly leveled the game in the final minute when a scrum in front of goal almost proved disastrous for Brentford. Leon Legge though cleared the ball off the line to quell the situation.

Marcus Bean received a yellow card for Brentford, while Tim Sillis was booked for Basingstoke.

Brentfrod takes on Charlton Athletic next week and Basingstoke Town travels to play Eastbourne Borough.

Notes

Anton Peterlin did not feature in Walsall's draw against Exeter City.

Jemal Johnson never left the bench in Southend United's tie against Preston North End.

John Paul Pittman did not feature in Crawley Town's victory over Bury.
